Lonely
By E.E. Curtis
Lonely
He sits, against his cement wall
silent
A hat to hide behind, though no one sees
His only chair, all of his belongings.
He sits upon his bed
His clothes drawer
His shed.
We turn them out
These people that we fear.
Why?!
And why fear.
More than a meal, more than tossed coin
Maybe most he hungers for a place to rest
without judgement.
Complete indifference
Antithesis of love
He hangs his head
Michael Jackson glove
He doesn’t know that the silence of his guitar
Is noticed
Because I never told him.
Cowboy, play your song for me
It helps me feel a little less
Lonely
