THE ArtWrite Concept

The concept of ArtWrite is “Art illustrated by writing,” or reverse illustration. Usually when writing and art are paired, the writing comes first and the artist illustrates after. For Art Write you will first select a piece of visual art that catches your attention and then do a write-up in short story or poetry form using the art as a prompt. This can be any genre, or any form you like.

You may also use the monthly visual art prompts I post to inspire your short/poem submission.

Kids Shorts are for contributors 18 and younger. As such, any Kids Shorts submissions must be PG rated in content and written or created by persons 18 and younger.

I hope to create a truly collaborative approach for my site. I love to work with artists or writers or artists who like to be writers too! Please contact me if you're interested in working together. There are many options for you as a guest contributor. You can contribute the art only, or writing that goes with the prompts I post, or you can do an art/write post. If you are contributing art only, I will either do the writing for it, or pair your art with a different guest writer. Contact me! I'm happy to answer any questions you may have and talk about how we can work together.

ART

On ArtWrite authors and artist's work are respected. I do not sell your work. 

 

All images used on the website must be from:

Public domain art

Or

You must be the original artist giving me permission to post an image of your art

I accept artwork for Kids Shorts and Your Shorts (adults). Any visual art form is acceptable as writing prompt.     Ex: sculpture, painting, mixed media, photography. Images only. No videos. Please include a quality digital image in your submission.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1- Email your submission and/or art image to authoreecurtis@gmail.com with ARTWRITE SUBMISSION in the subject line.

I will reply to your submission whether I choose to post it or not. If your submission is selected for publication on the website, I will contact you for further information.

Submission does not guarantee publication or use of your work on the ArtWrite website.

Please note that all "Kids Shorts" content must be child-friendly and rated PG in content.

For ArtWrite Prompts

I post a monthly ArtWrite prompt on my website under Your Shorts and one under Kids Shorts, which will be the art for you to write about. Please submit a finished, edited short story or poem by emailing it to authoreecurtis@gmail.com. In the subject of your email please specify which prompt you are writing for. Example: "May ArtWrite Prompt."
